Looking for class reward ideas that your kiddos will definitely love? Then this is the post for you!
Using a class reward is one of the best positive classroom management strategies. As a teacher myself, I know how much my kiddos want to earn their reward time! But it can be hard to keep it fresh and think of new ideas.
This post is full of ideas for your next class reward system, as well as ideas for what to give your class as their reward.
This post is all about class reward.
Best Class Reward Systems
Using a class reward as part of your positive behavior management strategy is a great idea. Not only does it encourage good behavior, but it also builds a class community. Children have to work together to help their class earn the reward.

Having an engaging system for your class reward is the first and most important step. You want something that is going to hook your kiddos in. You could even give your kids a choice as to what the new system will be or link it to your classroom theme, if you have one.
It’s also important to make it an achievable goal. Asking children to earn 50 things for their class reward is too much – it will take too long to earn and put them off. I have found earning 10 of something to be the sweet spot.
Let’s look at some of the best class reward systems…
1. Building a flower
This is a super simple but really cute whole class reward system. Children have to earn the petals to build the flower. You can even display their reward in the centre of the flower.
2. Building Mr Potato Head
I LOVE this idea! And it is something my partner teacher uses in her classroom. Basically, the kids have to earn the parts to build Mr Potato Head and once he is complete, they earn their reward! You could either use an actual Mr Potato Head like my friend does, or you could create a display instead.
3. Marbles/ beads in a jar
This is a classic class reward idea but it works a treat! You can put a marble in the jar or a handful of beads when your class does something to impress you. You can even mark up the side of the jar what reward they will earn at each point.
4. Stickers on a Stanley cup
Okay, as a Stanley cup lover, this is one that I made for my class this year. I drew a Stanley cup outline and then drew ten different sticker designs. Once my class earn all 10 stickers on the Stanley, they get a reward! They absolutely LOVE it!!
If you want to use this in your classroom, you can get this on my TPT store here.
5. Popcorn in the bucket
Have your kids earn pieces of popcorn and when the bowl is full, they can earn their reward!
6. Cookies in the jar
Your students are smart cookies! They can earn cookies to put in the jar and once they have enough, they can earn their reward.
7. Jibbitz on the crocs
Okay, this one is another one that I made that I plan on using with my new class! I drew the outline of a Croc and designed 10 Jibbitz for my students to earn. Once all 10 Jibbitz are on the crocs, they will get their reward!
If you would like to use this with your class, you can purchase it on my TPT store here…
8. Build a paper chain
I used this the first year of teaching. It’s super easy and low prep. All you need are some strips of colored paper. Students have to earn a link in the chain and once the chain is 10 rings long, they earn a reward. My kids loved seeing how long they could make the paper chain by the end of the year!
9. Create a monster
Have your students build a monster by earning different parts of him. Once he is complete, they can have their reward!
10. Fish in a fish bowl
This one would be great for younger kids. When they do some amazing work or work well together as a team, they can add a fish to the fish bowl. Once there are 10 fish in the bowl, they have earned their reward!
Best Class Rewards
Now you have your class reward system up and running, your kiddos need a reward once they’ve earned it. It’s a good ideas to have the reward visible as part of your display to remind your kids what they chose. It helps them stay motivated to earn it!
The best class rewards are simple and free! Here are some that have always gone down a treat in my classroom…
1. Movie afternoon
Let your kids choose a movie to watch for the afternoon (make sure it’s suitable of course!) You could even buy some popcorn to make it a super special experience.
2. Bring a teddy
This one works great with younger children! They love to bring their favorite teddies to school for the day. Just be sure to ask parents to write their child’s name on before they bring them into school!
3. Free choice afternoon
This one always goes down really well with my kiddos. I usually give them a choice of 3 activities to keep things manageable. Art and craft, iPads and Lego are always super popular choices.
4. Choose your seat
This one works great for older kids where you may have assigned seating in your classroom. Let them choose where they sit for the day or an afternoon. Honestly, it might not sound much but the kids love it!
5. Extra recess
This is a classic and always goes down a treat. Just be sure to choose a day with nice weather or it is less enjoyable, trust me!!
6. Technology afternoon
This is another great one. I get the iPads and laptops out and give my students a choice of 3 games or websites they can go on.
7. Dance party
Put on your students favourite music and have a dance around! Just be sure to make sure you play the clean version of your kiddos favorite songs.
8. Paper airplane competition
This one is a bit different but one that my students begged me for this year. They were spending their whole recess making paper aeroplanes and absolutely loved flying them! So for their class reward, we made and decorate paper airplanes and had a competition outside to see which flew the furthest!
